Dunaire Neighborhood Watch

Anna and Jason are working on creating the protocols for a neighborhood watch.  There is a PDF that was handed out at the Smoothies with Cops event that was uploaded to the website in the NBHD Watch section that is serving as a guide if anyone wants to take a look.

We went over the NBHD Watch section of MyDunaire.com and asked that if neighbors have an  incident that they fill out the incident form so that the rest of the neighborhood can be alerted.

A couple of people were at the event representing the neighborhood with the goal of creating stronger connection with law enforcement. They hold other events like Coffee with a Cop, Movies  with a Cop, and BBQ with a Cop. Info is on Instagram @DekalbCountyPD 

Dunaire Pool 501(c) 3

We need to get non-profit status back up for the pool. If anyone would be willing to step up to make this happen please contact info@mydunaire.com

Treasurers Report

The Civic Association has approximately $1900.00 and the pool has approximately $1700. Pool funds cover operating costs but Civic Association funds will go towards neighborhood activities and other outreach costs. Because the turnout for non-resident pool memberships was so high this year (they had to be capped at a certain point) next year the cost for non-resident pool memberships will increase which will possibly allow us to decrease resident memberships.

Neighborhood Party

The Civic Association would like to hold a neighborhood party at the end of the pool season for all residents of Dunaire. The weekend after Labor Day from 12-4p, burgers and hotdogs would be provided. More info to come.

Misc.

Garbage pick up will begin earlier on Wednesdays so that sanitation workers can beat the heat.

New neighbors: if you're new to the neighborhood please reach out and introduce yourself, or if  you have a new neighbor please let us know so we can welcome them to the neighborhood.

Thank you to everyone who came out to May's civic association meeting! We had a great turnout and great ideas were shared. The pavilion   The call was made to remember the pavilion for your party needs.  The more rentals we have the more money we have to maintain the property.  Top on the list is gravel for the driveway.   Rental info is on the MyDunaire website under the pool tab.  Non residents can also rent out the pavilion.   Who would like to participate in the process of turning our Dunaire Pool into a 501C a non-profit  so that we can solicit donations in an effort to build community and insure a stable future for our pool and park?  A group of neighbors have stepped up to tackle this process. URGENT POOL MEETING 3/29

MARCH 29th 2-4p AT THE POOL PAVILION  Every year we are at risk of losing the pool property from lack of funds.  Dunaire has already lost part of the pool property due to unpaid property taxes.  Although the cost of running and maintaining the pool is on the rise we have many great ideas to ensure that the Dunaire pool remains a feature of our neighborhood, but we need your help!  We are currently gathering all the information we need to present to the neighborhood in order to have a clear picture of steps moving forward so we can keep our beautiful community pool, and keep it properly maintained for everyone to enjoy. April Civic Association Meeting NOTES

The in person meeting at the pool pavilion had a great turn out. Thank you to everyone who came to give your input, we needed it! William Shephard did a presentation about the proposed carwash that QT is hoping to build.  If you'd like to view the PowerPoint click here . The presentation covered what the project would encompass and what we are asking from QT in return, mainly them addressing the traffic at the Collingwood entrance, the amount of trash that is now being generated from their property that is going into our creek and into the neighborhood, and possible one time or annual funding for the pool and pavilion upkeep.  There is also a sheriff substation that will be set up on the QT property in the near future.
